Attorney Cedeño To Speak On Women’s Rights

It is a great honor for Peter L. Cedeño & Associates, P.C. of New York, New York to announce that our lead attorney, Mr. Cedeño, has been invited to speak to the Consulate General of Brazil in New York about women’s rights. The event is to take place during the afternoon of November 12th, 2015, located at 225 E 41st Street, New York, New York 10017. As numerous consuls and other ambassadors are expected to attend the event, this is truly a wonderful opportunity for Attorney Cedeño to use his decades of legal experience to provide some valuable insight to such an important topic.

Brazil’s Ongoing Women’s Rights Movement

The South American nation of Brazil has had a history of trouble involving gender-based crimes and women’s rights issues. When incumbent Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff – the country’s first female president – took office in 2011, one of her goals was to seek an end to the escalating problem of violence against women. Some reports that have been acknowledged by President Rousseff cite that an average of 15 women were slain each day in Brazil, solely due to the fact that they were women.

(UN Women provides a full article about this shocking study here.)

As the country continues to push for equality and protection for women, outside efforts, such as the speech Mr. Cedeño will give in November, certainly help bring attention to the issue. If you would like to know more about the event – or if you have a legal issue that involves women’s rights here in the United States – you may call 212.235.1382 and request a case consultation with one of our New York family law attorneys.
